Dear Friends,We pray you are safe and well.  We were stunned to hear someone who circulates in the mental health community say, "I do not know anyone who has died of Covid-19. I know several people who have died from not being able to endure the isolation of this physical distancing." We all know people who struggle with mental health challenges; it is incumbent that we reach out to them and support them--"over and over announcing their place in the family of things." This has prompted our choice of today's meditation, reminded by community member Bruce Aguilar of Mary Oliver's "Wild Geese." May this meditation nourish your contemplative-active hearts!

Dear Friends,
We pray you are safe and well. In the spirit of our philosophy of co-creating community and our awareness that the Spirit speaks through each of us, we invite you to share your meditations with us as well. We truly believe that in God’s economy of abundance, when we share our blessings, our thoughts, our feelings, we are all made richer.

On this Pentecost Tuesday, today’s meditation is a contemporary writing of the traditional Pentecost Sequence entitled Pentecost in the Pandemic: a Contemporary Sequence.  It is written by Fr. Leo O'Donovan SJ, President Emeritus of Georgetown University and Director of Mission at Jesuit Refugee Service/USA. He is one of Jean's former teachers, a man whom we deeply admire for his communication of wisdom and for his passion for social justice. May this meditation nourish your contemplative-active hearts!

We hope and pray that you and your loved ones experience genuine peace of mind and heart, and remain in good health during this challenging time. May the Pentecost Season be a time of peace, of healing and hope, of the infusion of joy in your life!

With our love and care,

Dear Friends,

We pray you are safe and well.

Our hearts were outraged to see how George Floyd was brutalized by the four Minneapolis policemen. In disbelief we heard his pleading cry, "I can't breathe" go unresponded to--are we losing our humanity? We want to cry, "Never again!" as Pope Paul VI cried out against war. And yet this same scenario is repeated over and over and over and over again. How can we stretch our hearts to be as inclusive as God's heart--there is room for everyone--everyone is valued and cared for. Our hearts are saddened seeing all the protests go violent. In this spirit, today's reflection comes to us courtesy of Bruce Aguilar. His reflection on his own experience leads into this National Public Radio reflection on this ongoing problem of systemic racism and the way we treat people who are different from us.  May this meditation nourish your contemplative-active hearts!
