Dear Friends,

We pray you are safe and well. In the spirit of our philosophy of co-creating community and our awareness that the Spirit speaks through each of us, we invite you to share your meditations with us as well. We truly believe that in God’s economy of abundance, when we share our blessings, our thoughts, our feelings, we are all made richer.

Today’s meditation is a poem written by Wendy M. Wright in her book Sacred Heart: Gateway to God . We were blessed this weekend to participate in an on-line retreat she led offered by Shalem Institute in honor of Gerald May.

May it nourish your contemplative-active hearts!

We hope and pray that you and your loved ones experience genuine peace of mind and heart, and remain in good health during this challenging time.

May the Easter Season be a time of peace, of healing and hope, of the resurrection of joy in your life!

With our love and care,

Ron & Jean

Meditation Forty-Six: from Sacred Heart: Gateway to God  (Wendy M. Wright)

They sit in an uneasy circle around the room.

One widowed,

one broken from divorce, the others in various stages

of psychic rupture.

Retreating from the church,

from laws that are

odd mazes

and tiny rats

scurrying through passages

forever finding new dead ends.

from principles that fit their lives

less well than clothes

handed down by a well meaning

acquaintance

folded in a brown sack.

I invite them to enter into the divine embrace.

We have no time for such things, they

complain.

We are active people, not recluses.

But when they weep late into the night,

when they shuffle their sorrow

back and forth

in hearts made raw from pain,

they long to hide their faces in that soft crook

of flesh

between her arm and breast

and feel the heartbeat of God.
